The Foundation proudly supports local programs such as GAIT, which combines the joy of horses and hippotherapy, a form of treatment for movement dysfunction using multidimensional movement of horses to improve balance, posture, mobility and possibly cognitive, psychological, behavioral and communication functions for clients. The Foundation helps to provide the opportunity for the otherwise unresponsive special-needs individual to participate in activities that can become key to unlocking their world. Longtime supporters and underwriters of the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD), the Foundation continues to provide funding for programs adapted to the special needs of children.
"Firefly Field is an all-accessible premiere playground where kids of all abilities can play, share and learn. Thanks to the town of Matamoras, Firefly Field is located at Matamoras Airport Park on more than an acre of land. The playground has been subsidized mainly by the Ingeborg A. Biondo Memorial Foundation, as well as sponsorships and donations from many businesses and individuals. Firefly Field is one of only a few playgrounds in the country where every piece of equipment is accessible to children of all abilities. It is our hope the opportunity to play in a safe and stimulating environment will promote goodwill, respect, understanding and much happiness for many generations."
